Disclosure: I develop Ebb, which is number 10 on this list. It is placed last because it has the fewest ratings. The list is ordered by rating count, not by my opinion.
"Menopause app" is not one category. The ten apps below are at least four different products wearing the same keyword: device companions (Joylux, Clearblue), coaching programmes (Lila, Caria, Health & Her), communities (perry) and trackers (Menelle, HRTMe, Ebb, and the tracking half of Balance). Comparing their star ratings tells you how happy each one's users are, not which one solves your problem.
The second mistake is specific to trackers. Perimenopause does not run on a schedule, yet most period-tracker-derived apps still print a predicted date and quietly push it forward when you do not bleed. For a 44-year-old with cycles of 21 to 60 days, that date is fiction. The useful number is your real recent range, and the useful feature is being able to line your symptoms up against what you changed: an HRT dose, a patch site, coffee, wine, a bad night.
| App | US ratings | What it actually is | Pick it if |
|---|---|---|---|
| Joylux | 4,075 · 4.7★ | Companion app for the vFit device, plus a 30+ symptom tracker and a stage quiz | You own or plan to buy the device |
| Menopause Stage – Clearblue me | 2,763 · 4.6★ | Companion for Clearblue FSH test strips; indicates your likely menopause stage, tracks cycles and symptoms | You want a stage estimate from a home test |
| Lila | 1,683 · 4.7★ | Perimenopause weight-loss coach: meal photos, protein and calorie targets, chat | Weight is the symptom you care about most |
| Caria | 1,431 · 4.6★ | Symptom tracking with CBT, nutrition and mindfulness programmes, plus a community | You want a guided programme, not only a log |
| Balance | 1,118 · 4.7★ (27,178 in the UK) | Dr Louise Newson's app: evidence-based articles, symptom and period tracking, health report; in NHS app libraries | You are in the UK, or want the most-cited reference app |
| Health & Her | 922 · 4.7★ | Whole-life hormonal health: cycles, contraception, perimenopause, menopause; habits and expert advice | You want one app across every hormonal stage |
| perry | 244 · 4.9★ | Community first: groups, chats, expert live events and courses | You want other women more than you want charts |
| Menelle | 164 · 4.8★ | Symptom, medication and supplement tracking, custom trackers, meal scan for food triggers | You suspect food triggers and want custom trackers |
| HRTMe | 28 · 4.9★ | HRT regimen reminders for every delivery method, phased and cyclical schedules, doctor sharing | HRT reminders are the whole job |
| Ebb (author's own app) | new, no ratings yet | Symptom log, honest cycle range instead of a fake date, HRT with dose and site rotation, dose-vs-symptom correlation, one-tap doctor PDF, Watch | You are on HRT and want to see whether a dose change actually changed anything |
You want the most-trusted reference: Balance. Apple Editors' Choice, ORCHA-certified, listed in NHS app libraries, and by far the biggest rating base in the UK. In the US it is a much smaller presence.
You want a programme, not a log: Caria (CBT, nutrition, mindfulness) or Lila (weight-loss coaching for perimenopause). Both are subscription products built around a plan.
You want a stage estimate: Clearblue's app, but only together with its FSH test strips. Without the tests it is a general tracker.
You are on HRT and want the log to be about the HRT: HRTMe (reminders for every delivery method, phased schedules) or Ebb (the same plus dose-vs-symptom correlation, an honest cycle range and a doctor PDF). This is the case I built Ebb for, so weigh that accordingly.
Rating counts and averages are from the US App Store via Apple's public iTunes lookup API, read on 12 September 2026, rounded to one decimal; Balance's UK count is from the same API on the GB storefront. Product descriptions are from each app's own store listing. Nothing here was sponsored. Corrections: necatidogrul7@gmail.com.
